Final exam Question #2

The Earth and Space
a) The the mikly way is estimated to be 100,000 light-years in diameter, and up to 5,000 light-years thick. And in this galaxy, our Solar System is located about 26,000 light-years away from the very center. The Solar System isn't at the middle of the galaxy, but it's not at the edge. Astronomers now know that the center of the milky way contains a super massive black hole, containing millions of times the mass of the sun. Fortunately, we're very far away from this center, where stars are clustered much more closely together.

b) The big bang theory states that at some time in the distant past there was nothing. A process known as vacuum fluctuation created what astrophysicists call a singularity. From that singularity, which was about the size of a dime, our Universe was born.

final Exam Question #1

The Sun
The sun has many cycles includng a sunspot cycles. This cycle lasts 11 years. A solar flare is the most violent errruption on the sun. Flares typically last a few minutes and can release e
ngeries equal up to millions hydrogen bombs. The sun makes itslf known by the influence of solar winds of high speed charged particles constastantly blowing of our sun, Solar Wind may be viewed as an extension of the outer Atmosphere of the sun (the corona) into interplanetry space.

Even though the internet is vast with informaton both part of B and C could not be found. i went through many different sites and the information i needed couldnt be found. Now in part B the undertandng of staellites being disrupted along with radios especially A. M radios can be affected because of solar flares. Power grids can lose power cause of energy given off caused by solar wind and solar flares.
